Comedian Kevin Hart has been charged with DUI -- not unexpected ... after he allegedly drove drunk and nearly slammed into a tanker truck and then confessed to his wastedness.
TMZ broke the story ... Hart was arrested for DUI almost two weeks ago after CHP spotted him speeding and driving erratically on an L.A. freeway. We're told cops clocked Kev at 90 MPH and watched as he almost collided with a gas tanker truck.

Our sources say Hart blew almost DOUBLE the legal limit -- .15.

The L.A. City Attorney has charged Hart with two misdemeanor counts of DUI. If convicted, he faces up to a year in jail, but the reality is ... first offenders almost never get sentenced to the pokey.
